Movie Review: Bindas

Story

We can finally say Manch Manoj who tried different types of films got the first hit in his career through ‘Bindas’. This time he teamed up with debutant director Veeru Potla and succeeded in giving an entertainer.

Ajay ( Manoj), a bindas guy belongs to a shunned family by his extended family members in Rayalaseema. The family head Mahendra Naidu( Ahuti Prasad) got arch rival in Sheshadri Naidu ( Jaya Prakash Reddy) who also belongs to the same area. True to the faction leader’s nature, they keep killing each other’s family members.

To protect his family members, Mahendra Naidu calls Ajay back home much to the dislike of his family members. Ajay sees his cousin Girija (Sheena) there and love sparks in no time. Rest of the story is clichéd one with Ajay stopping the faction rivalry and marrying Sheena.

Performance

Manchu Manoj steal the show. He carried the entire film on his shoulder. His body language as ‘Bindas’ guy is perfect. He is superb in comedy and showed energy in fights.
Sheena, the debutant heroine got nothing to offer except glamour. Though she got hot body, it is her face turns you down. She still looks like a small kid.

Master Bharath is hilarious and his comedy with Manoj worked out well. Brahmanandam short role is entertaining. Sunil and Venneal Kishore performed well in supporting role.

Ahuti Prasad and Jaya Prakash Reddy are routine. Rest of the cast justified their roles.

Technical

Debutant director Veeru Potla chose the tried and tired formula for his first movie. But the way he handled it makes the movie different from the earlier movies of the same type. His screenplay is good and handling the comedy is worth mentioning. He also penned the dialogues and are highlight for the movie.

Music by Babo Sashi is disappointing. Chinn’s rerecording is good. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. Cinematography is cool in songs with rich colours. Need a special mention for the fights composer. He did a commendable job. Production values are high.

Analysis

‘Bindas’ offers a full time pass for a common moviegoer. The first half is entertaining with laced with comedy scenes. Second half starts well but ends in a predictable fashion. The story is old and seen in lot of faction backdrop movies.

But Veeru Potla gave new life to the movie by his handling the characters and their charecterisation. It is worth watching for the comedy and Manoj action. It got all the commercial elements to please the masses.

In US, producers promised to refund the ticket money for all those viewers who are not satisfied with the ‘Bindas’ movie. Do they get any refund requests, I doubt.
