Story

Finally , ‘Oy’ released and wait to see Anjali baby as heroine Shamili is over.  With unique title, hero Siddharth craze among teenagers and Shamili debut hyped up the  film’s expectations. We will see how those are justified in real.

Uday (Siddharth) is a son of business tycoon and believes in enjoying the life to its fullest. On the other side Sandhya (Shamili) is an orthodox Indian girl who strongly believes in values, sentiments and traditions.

One day, Uday happens to see Sandhya in a pub wearing a chudidar and writing a diary. Uday fall in love with her instantly. Uday joins her home as paying guest and tries to woo her with changed attitude and habits of her liking.  After some attempts, Sandhya starts enjoying the company of Uday and reciprocate his love. On Sandhya's birthday, Uday proposes and Sandhya accepts it.

But, a horrifying truth about Sandhya leaves Uday in shocking. What is the shocking news and how the movie progress is the rest of the story.

Performance

As usual Siddharth is at his sublime best. He really did a marvelous job and entire film runs on his shoulder. He looked handsome and stylish. He gave superb facial expressions in each and every frame and his body language is perfectly suited for the role. His action emoting sentimental scenes needs a special mention.

Shamili, the most awaited debut as heroine is a big let down. She appeared very traditional and simple without any glamour all through the film. Of course, her character is designed that way. Coming to her performance, she offers nothing new but played the character safely.

She, however, gave the feeling that she would be best bet for sister’s roles and not heroine roles, with no exposure of glamour and her body structure. To make it big in films, she needs to take care of her total appearance.

Krishnudu of ‘Vinayakudu’ fame as Siddharth's friend managed to spill humor. Surekha Vani is seductive with slim personality. Sunil's separate comedy track managed to raise some laughs in first half. All other characters are short and they did their job.

Technical

Director Anand Ranga seems to be promising. The only mistake he did is choosing mostly unsuccessful concept in Telugu films. He lost the grip in the second half of the film. He was not able to bring the love-feel in the hearts of audience. But, he can prove himself next time with a better script.

Music by Yuvan Shankar is main highlight of this movie. All the songs in the album are worth listening. Background score for the film is adequate. Lyrics are good.

Cinematography is clear and brought life to the film. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is okay and some scenes really missed his cut. Dialogues of the film are accurate and funny. All other departments did commendable job. Production values are high.

Analysis

First half of the film is energetic and lot of cheerful moments. Whereas, second half becomes slow and brings lot of boring moments. The pace in the second half is drastically down till the climax arrives. Climax is different and will not be appreciated by Telugu people.

Youth audience can enjoy the first half thoroughly but second half lets them down.
The mass elements are missing and may prove drawback for the film’s run. The film evoked mixed reaction from the audiences.

On the whole ‘Oy’ is an average flick that can attract multiplex audience. Film's run is totally depended on family audiences and youth may not appreciate the ending.
