Story

Finally magnum opus film ‘Magadheera’ hit the screens and the verdict is unanimous - Marvelous and path breaking in Telugu film industry. The expectations on the film are on rooftop and it lived up to the expectations.

It is a story of reincarnation and revenge. In the 16th century, Kalabhairava (Ram Charan Teja) is a chief soldier and acts as a guard to  Mitra (Kajal) who is the princess of  Udhayghad. She loves Kalabhairava and though Kalabhairava has the same feeling never expresses it. On the other hand  Randev (Dev Gill), the commander in chief of the kingdom of Udayghad  play evil tricks to separate them and marry the princess. Sher Khan (Srihari) invades Udayghad killing all of them.

Now the story moves to current and Kalabhairava, Mitra, Sher Khan and Ran Dev reincarnate .Harsha (Ram Charan Teja), an avid biker happens to meet Indu (Kajal)  and fell in love with her.  But her nephew Raghuveer eyes Indu and once again become the obstacle to their love. Does the history repeats or there would be a turn around this time? A must watch movie in theaters.

Performance

Ram Charan Teja proved him self as a true successor of his father Chiranjeevi. He gave a matured performance and carried the two roles effortlessly. He suited well for the period getup of Kalabhairava.  His gait, expressions, and horse-riding skills are impeccable. We already witnessed what he is capable of in his debut movie ‘Chirutha’. His dance movements are effortless and fans go crazy for his dance in the remix song ‘Bangaru Kodi Petta’. Definitely  Ram charan Taja is  sta r in the making and he proved it with this film.

Kajal Agarwal is so cute  and perfectly suited the role of princess. She is gorgeous, seductive at the same time looked royal in princess getup. The chemistry between the lead pair is perfect and it showed on the screen. With this movie Kajal joins the big heroines league.

Srihari as Sher Khan acted well. His role is brief but powerful. His getup and dialogue delivery as Sher Khan is excellent. Dev Gil as villain justified his role and best suited for the roles.

Among others, Rao Ramesh as Aghora is excellent in body language and facial expressions. Megastar Chiranjeevi appeared in a song for a while for his much delighted fans. Sunil, Brahmanadam, Sarath Babu and others are adequate.

Technical

There is not much in the storyline and director revealed the story in the first few scenes. . Though the content was not much, director successfully narrated the story interestingly and kept the audience engaged. Rajamouli should be commended for his guts and his directorial skills. No other director in Tollywood beat SS Rajamouli in making the commercial movie. He succeeded in filming his vision in grandeur manner.

Cinematographer Senthil Kumar did a splendid job. Visual effects and graphics are highlight in the movie. M M Keeravani songs are average, but with picturisation they looked good. Background score is good. Art director Ravinder must be commended for creating the 400 years back kingdom.Dialogues by Ratnam are good.  Costumes by Rama Rajamouli is worth to praise.

As usual Geeta Arts production values are high in  getting the magnum opus film ‘Magadheera’ on to the screen.

Analysis

‘Magadheera’ deserves a special place in Telugu film industry for its technical aspects and its grandeur picturisation. While the first half was rather slow and weak, the film gets momentum and glue you to the seat. The highlights of the movie ‘Magadheera’ is the 400-years-old episode. This entire episode amazes the audiences for its graphics, art work and visual effects.

This is totally a director film who had a great vision and guts.  Kudos to Rajamouli for translating his vision onto the screen to near-perfection. It is a path breaker in Telugu film industry and would join the likes of ‘Arundhati’,  which is also ranked as film with technical brilliance . Though the storyline is weak, its presentation, commercial elements and technical aspects make the movie winner at the box office.
