Story

Finally, the much awaited film of Nagarjuna’s  son Naga Chaitanya’s debut film released. It is also  the debut film for heroine Karthika who is daughter of yesteryear heroine Radha. With so much hype and hope, movie released after some set backs in the release.

Satya (Naga Chaitanya) decides to quit college in Vizag and decides to move to Hyderabad to work and stay with his uncle (Sunil). One day he  involve in  fight with  MGM college students. As ususal there are two warring gangs and one college alum Durga Rao (JD Chakravarthy) who is their role model–a former goonda of the college and now in politics wanting to become a youth wing president or something like that. On the other hand Satya is in love with Nitya ( Karthika) a convent school teacher.

Then in a flashback it is revealed that Satya himself was a full-time goonda in college at Vizag. In spite of being a goonda pricipal Prakash Raj requests him to reform after seeing his talent. But  Satya is against the education system cotinue his goonadgiri acts and in one such bike ride his friend dies. Then…Satya realises his mistake and change  and decides to move to Hyderabad.

Now coming to present, Satya wants to bring reforms among all the distracted students of MGM College. He joins the collage again as a student and tries to eliminate Durga Rao factor from the collage forms the main crux of the story. Will he succeed in uniting the two warring camps and eliminate Durga Rao? Watch it on big screen.

Performance

Naga Chaitanya gave a neat performance considering it is his debut movie. His looks are decent  and got charm. But he needs to improve in every department. He cannot dance and tries so hard to dance that he can’t get the lip sync correctly. His diction is awful. Fights are good and need to work on comedy timing. He performed well in couple of scenes of collage.

Karthika looks older to Naga Chaitanya and lacks the glamour and oomph of hr mother yesteryear heroine Radha. Her makeup is very poor and looked ordinary. She needs lot of improvement in acting to continue furthr as a heroine for that matter as an artist.

JD is as usual and Brahmanadam fail to create any impact. Prakash raj performed well in his routine style. Sunil is OK. Rest of the star cast did their job and no need a special mention.

Technical

The possibility of coming up with an out-an-out entertainer when you have a college backdrop is limitless, but debutant director  Vasu Varma unable to cash on it. Though his story is thoughtful, unable to present it in rightway. There are so many un necessary scenes which are no way related to story.Unable to weave a good romantic thread between hero and heroine. His direction is good but screen play is let down.

Dialogues are good. Editing is OK. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is excellent. Music by Sandeep Chowta is let down except couple of songs. Background score is  OK. Production values are high.
Analysis

The movie made with collage backdrop in the line of ‘ Shiva’. Unfortunately “josh’ is more of a message oriented movie and not a right choice for the debit movie. It lacks mass elements which require to elevate the hero.
No fights, only build-ups in the first half. There were times when one felt that something big was bound to happen but then the scene fizzles off and replaces with un wanted scene. The second half offers some drama, but not enough to keep the audience connect to the movie.

There are no sequences in the film that worthy of screams or whistles and nothing in the film to excite the youth. Comedy is a total let down.

Bottom line: Josh has little Josh.
