Story

Much hyped movie ‘Eenadu’ got released today and sure get the attention of  multitiplex audiences and A class centers if  you have already not watched "A Wednesday".  If you compare the movies, “Eenadu” no where comes close to “A Wednesday”.

Movie starts with retired police commissioner Eeshwar Prasad (Venkatesh) recalling a day which he claims to have changed his mindset totally. In a flashback, one day Eeshwar Prasad gets an anonymous call. The caller (Kamal Haasan) will tell commissioner that he had planted five bombs in various strategic locations of Hyderabad. To make them believe, he told the exact location of the first bomb which is the police station in his jurisdiction. He also tells them how to defuse it.

The caller again calls the commissioner and demands the release of four noted terrorist who are in the jail so that he can defuse the other four bombs. Commissioner takes his demand serious and convinces the government to release the terrorist to stop the bloodshed.
When everything set for the release of four terrorist, an unexpected thing happens to everyone’s surprise. Watch the movie to know what is the unexpected turn and the relationship of the caller with terrorists and whether commissioner able to defuse the bombs.

Performance

Kamal Haasan has portrayed the common man role with ease. Kamal Haasan with heavy beard didn’t look like a common man of India. His get up and body language depicted heroism in the role. There is no doubt that Kamal Haasan is a great actor, but Naseeruddin shah suited well for the role in the movie original “A Wednesday”.

Venkatesh must be appreciated for accepting a role in multi starrer. Venkatesh looked handsome and gave superb performance. He has only one scene to share with Kamal Haasan. Venkatesh left his stardom and acted with in the limits of the role.

Bharath Reddy and Ganesh Raman acted well as young police officers. Lakshmi and Poonam Kaur did justice to their roles. All four terrorist gave good performance though it is brief. Rest of the cast is OK.

Technical

Director Chakri Toleti copied the movie bit to bit from original “A Wednesday”, but still failed to give the best. His screenplay technique is poor and the little changes he made to the script made the movie an ordinary film. Editing could have been better. He could not bring the intensity which required for this kind of film.

Cinematographer Manoj Soni has done a good job using Red Camera which brought richness to the film. But the lack of visualization resulted in poor camera angles and gave adverse effect to the movie. Shruthi Haasan background score is good. Dialogues by Neelakanta are disappointing and there is lot of angrez in dialogues.

Analysis

Kamal Haasan and Venkatesh are the plus points for the movie. Major disappointment is charecterisation of Kamal Haasan. Naseeruddin Shah was far better than Kamal Haasan in portraying the common man role. Naseeruddin looked like a common man while Kamal Haasan looked like a hero.

Coming to the story….though it is a copy of “A Wednesday, we can’t just compare the both. Original is much better than the copy. Director unable to create intensity in the scenes and adding Laksmi character ruined the flow of the movie.
If you didn’t see ‘A Wednesday’, sure you can watch it for the message and star cast. It only appeals the multiplexes and ‘A’ center audiences. There are no elements which attract the B, C center audiences. Excessive use of English in dialogues may also turn down the masses.

Over all..it is a good movie if you have not watched the original ’A Wednesday’.
