Ek Niranjan movie of Prabhas released today amidst much hype. Puri Jagannath is desperately waiting for a hit after ‘Pokiri’ teamed up with Prabhas for the second time after ‘Bujjigadu’ which failed to impress the audience.

Chotu (Prabhas) was abducted by a peddler Chidambaram (Makrand) when he was a toddler. While trying to find his parents, Chotu catches criminals and handover them to police and gets commission to make his living. There enters Sameera (Kananga), a music teacher in his life. Love blossoms between them and Chotu who doesn’t care anyone except Chidambaram (he is the only one who knows about his parents) is now have a person to care about.
 
One day Chotu catches Madhav who is a henchman in Jhonny Bhai (Sonu Sood) gang and handover him to police. Madhav is none other than Sameera’s brother. Chotu crosses swords with Johnny Bhai to protect his friend Kailash who is actually a gang member of Jhonny Bhai from killing by Jhonny Bahi himself.

Will Sameera continues to love Chotu after her brother arrest? Is chotu successful in eliminating Johnny Bhai and protect Kailash? What is the relation between Kailash, and Chotu? Will he be successful in finding his parents forms the rest of the story.

Prabhas comes up with an energetic performance. He excels in fights and dances. But, his characterization and dialogue delivery lacks freshness. After these many movies, his dialogue modulation still lacks punch.

 

Puri Jagannath scored more points as a writer than the director in this movie. The screenplay is not up to his standards. There were many illogical scenes. He needs to select the scripts carefully. The charecterisation of hero in his movies becoming predictable. It is better for him to avoid the separate comedy track.

Mani Sharma music is highlight and re recording is good. Shaam K Naidu’s cinematography looks richer. Editing by M.R.Verma is not up to standard. Production values are high. Costumes are trendy and suitd well for the lead pair.

 

The film was made with a huge budget and with all kinds of commercial elements. Despite many positive aspects, Prabhas failed to convince the audiences in general with his performance to the expected level. The movie runs with ups and downs. While the first half is fast and entertaining, second half is slow and sentimental. The pace graph drastically comes down with separate comedy track and sentiment.

The comedy track by Ali, Brahmanadam is like a track in B-C grade movies. The real comedy is generated between Prabhas and Soonu  Sood.  Director modified the script to impress the mass audiences.

Though the film might go well with mass audiences to some extent, the film’s commercial success is doubtful in the wake of these illogical scenes. The film may run at above average level in B, C centres but its success in city is a big question.

Bottomline: A time pass film and can be watchable for Prabhas and  Sonu sood.
