
Super star Krishna has announced his retirement from both films and politics. He said because of health reasons, he has decided to retire from both.
Krishna said that he always wanted to don the character of Chatrapati Sivaji, but could not realize that dream.
Speaking in a private programme in Jubilee Hills, Krishna said he always wanted to produce the film of Chatrapati Shivaji and now that he had decided to retire, it would remain an unfulfilled dream.
Krishna, father of Prince Mahesh Babu was considered Super Star during his time. He has acted in more than 350 films. He entered the film industry with director Adurti Subba Rao’s all new faces film ‘Tene Manasulu’. After the film became a smashing hit at the box office, Krishna never looked back. He has worked with star directors including Adurti Subba Rao, V Madhusudana Rao, K Viswanath, Bapu, Dasari Narayana Rao and K Raghavendra Rao. He earned laurels as well as awards for his performance as the legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. He is known to be a courageous producer and kind-hearted person. He has won several awards including the coveted Padma Bhushan. He has two sons, Ramesh Babu and Mahesh Babu. Mahesh has occupied the place of his father and is being called super star.
Krishna started Padmalaya banner and produced several mega budget films. Alluri Sitarama Raju, Mosagallaku Mosagadu and Paadi Pantalu are among his outstanding productions. He was the first hero to have acted in a James Bond style film. His Goodhachary 116 was a big hit and from then on, he came to be called Andhra James Bond. He has produced the first Telugu cinema scope film (Alluri Sita Rama Raju), the first 70 MM Telugu movie and the first DTS movie (Telugu Veera Levara). He has also directed 17 films. He was elected to the Parliament from the Congress party. He would always remain as the first super star of the Telugu screen.
