Story

Narasimha (Balakrishna) along with one year old boy shifts various locations across the country before reaching Kumbakonam and starts working as a driver for temple priest (Murali Mohan).  However things take a point of no return for peace loving Narasimha when he confronts the atrocities of local villain (Kalakeya Prabhakar) and ACP.

To find out the violent flashback of silent Narasimha and his connection to Vijayawada politician Rami Reddy (Ashutosh Rana) and teacher (Prakash Raj) daughter Gauri (Nayanatara) enjoy Jai Simha on silver screen.

Performance

Balakrishna slipped into the role effortlessly. He showed variations in expressions and emotions to thrill fans. His body language elevated the scenes and delivered dialogues in a powerful manner. He enacted breathtaking stunts and surprised all with his dancing moves. However age is fast catching Balakrishna and it is clearly visible in his looks and movements on screen. No amount of makeup could hide it and people couldn't digest to see him as a lover boy any more.

Nayanatara performed well showing the right kind of emotions and her chemistry with Balakrishna is a treat to watch on screen. However the other heroines Hari Priya and Natasha Doshi got limited screen presence and inconsequential roles.

Ashutosh Rana and Kalakeya Prabhakar are apt as villains while Prakash Raj did hit bit as the father of Nayanatara. Brahmanandam's comedy aimed at B,C centers did not work out. Others like Murali Mohan,Jaya Prakash Reddy,Siva Parvathy performed accordingly.

Technical

Chirantan Bhatt's songs are just average but couple of songs are well choreographed and shot lavishly. He attracted with his background score. However sometimes it looked too loud. Cinematography of Ram Prasad is good. The scenes are shot in a realistic manner.

Editing of Praveen Antony could have been far better as there are many drags in the film. Director Ravikumar could have worked on the story to add few twists and made it more interesting. Production values are good.

Analysis

Director Ravikumar decided to explore different angles and variations in Balakrishna in a mass entertainer. He added many sentiment and emotional scenes revolving around a small baby.

This would have worked had he done away with the cheap and obscene comedy, tamil flavour and dragging scenes which acted as speed breakers. First half starts in a interesting manner and but drags in the middle and ends with a powerful interval block. It had its highs and lows and during the highs Balakrishna came with powerful fights and dialogues.

Second half is full of emotions and sentiment but the romantic scenes between Balakrishna and Nayanatara acted as speed breakers and so too the songs. Dialogues though powerful could have been even more powerful for Balakrishna.

Ravikumar's story, screenplay and direction is routine to the core and with too many drags even the hard core Balakrishna fans found it hard to stay till the end in the theaters. Silent Balakrishna for most of the film disappointed fans and masses and violent Balakrishna is not up to the mark to compensate for it. Overall it is torture to the core with nothing new in it.

Final Talk
