Did pressure crush Universal Star

Lokanayakudu Kamal Haasan is popular for his frank and bold views. Of late he has been coming with sensational statements on various issues creating controversies. It is known that his statements on Rajinikanth's political entry angered his fans and also his comments on Jallikattu earlier attracted the ire of the people.

Even the Bigg Boss Tamil version show landed in problem when some groups demanded the arrest of Kamal Haasan for insulting Tamil culture. In between Kamal Haasan shocked all by naming the rape victim while referring to the incident of Malayalam actor Dileep's arrest, despite clear laws are there not to name the victim.

Though scribes pointed out to Kamal Haasan that he shouldn't name the victim, he remained adamant. He said there is nothing wrong in letting the world know the victim's name. But National Commission for Women has taken the issue seriously and its chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam sent a legal notice to Kamal Haasan.

Kamal Haasan later relented to pressure and apologised on twitter with the following post. He posted  “Apologize say women, while I love & fight 4them.I will bend 2 no woman or man 4 no reason. U r penalizing the lawyer & missing criminals. Can’t name her? Name her after my mother or my daughter. This war will be fought. Yehhai Mahabharath katha. Jago My lady bharath. Salaam. If you still want me to apologize I will. No one is above law …except your gods. God is no reason just a ruse for some.”
