Movie lovers always show interest only on top stars and even the makers show interest in making films with top stars of Tollywood. However at present small films and small stars are showing their power on silver screen.
While top stars are doing one film a year, youngsters like Nani, Sharwanand, Nikhil and others are doing two to three films per year. Producer K.Damodara Prasad says “Earlier superstars like NTR, ANR, Krishna and Sobhan Babu used to do four to five films per year irrespective of whether their film was a hit or a flop. The present day stars are doing only one film a year and if they can do two films, it is good for the industry. In the meantime, the mid-range stars are doing three to four films a year and their films are doing great. They have proved that small is also big,”
Nani's recent entertainer Ninnu Kori did well at the box office and collected Rs 25crs in the first three days, His earlier film Nenu Local collected Rs 58crs. All films of Nani is made with a budget around 11-14crs and he receives remuneration of Rs 5crs. His films Ninnu Kori collected Rs 39crs in one week, Nenu Local collected Rs 58crs, Majnu collected Rs 32crs, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy collected Rs 35crs.
Sharwanand's films are made with Rs 10-12crs budget and he gets Rs 3.5crs remuneration. His film Radha collected Rs 27crs, Express Raja collected Rs 28crs, Shatamanam Bhavati collected Rs 55crs. Nikhil's films are made with Rs 4-6crs budget and his remuneration is Rs 2.5crs. His film Ekkadaki Potavu Chinnavada collected Rs 38crs, Surya vs Srya collected Rs 22crs, Karthikeya collected Rs 20crs, Keshava Rs 40crs.
Producer NV.Prasad says “They are doing different kinds of films and choosing better scripts too. A big star film grabs most of the collections in the first week itself, but medium range films run for longer and generate positive talk,”
