Sumanth as ANR in NTR Biopic
Sumanth is stepping in to the shoes of his legendary grandfather ANR in Balakrishna's prestigious biopic on his dad NTR. The first look released on ANR's birthday created a sensation as the first look of Sumanth as ANR had the striking similarities.

Sumanth speaking to scribes revealed the secret of his preparations. On him and earlier Naga Chaitanya doing ANR roles, he said "Smiles) Oh Yes! I don’t know if two actors from the same family have played their grandfather ever before and or for that matter, will get to do so in the future. Both Chaitanya and I are blessed to have got the opportunity to play ANR in two equally prestigious biopics. Chaitu was apt to play ANR in Mahanati because it focused on the younger days of my grandfather. In contrast, NTR biopic will feature a slightly matured version of him. It will encapsulate a lot more of his life, between age 25 to 65. I've got a nice meaty role, a good mix of off screen and on screen incidents from my grandfather's role is in store for viewers"

He added " Actually, I am keeping it as a surprise from my family members. Of course my sister, Supriya is aware of how my looks are shaping up, also because she's been involved in picking out old photographs of grandpa, suggesting inputs to the costume designer. Besides that, everyone else will have to wait for the film to release to find out more"

Sharing more secrets he said " I can assure you there will be plenty of little known details that offer fascinating insights into the relationship that ANR and NTR shared. The film explores a lot of interesting associations that my grandfather shared with his co artistes, producers of NTR's films etc. Not much of it has come to public light to date. Every day I go to set, I get to learn something new. The film is also helping me understand the equation NTR garu shared with Chandra Babu Naidu"

On the equation between NTR and ANR, he said " I have met NTR garu as a kid so many times.I played around him and my memories are strong. But I've been surprised to discover some stories about the two legends of Telugu cinema. Prepping for the film has helped me understand the mutual respect they shared for each other. Even at the time when they were competitors, they were considered pillars of the industry. My grandfather was very self aware and knew that whenever NTR played mythological characters,no one could match him. Grandpa quietly took the backseat, claiming no boy would probably would want to see him that way. It takes a lot of humility to do that, say Mayabazaar, he was very secure in playing Abhimanyu while NTR garu played Lord Krishna .That sums up my grandfather's level of respect for him"

Revealing his preparation for his role he said " My preparation was more about matching him physically, so I dropped five kilos in the last one month. I was on a strict diet. Pulling off the look was challenging. I had to be very precise, so I got rid off the stubble that I have had for the last five years. I observed a lot of his old films once again, watched his interviews to catch the intricate aspects of his mannerisms. I also want to bring an element of myself into the film. Most of the time, I'll be shown as ANR off screen. He was a different person minus the arc lights"
