New Delhi: There is this debate going on the social media fora about the discipline of elected representations. The Karnataka's fractured verdict in the recently concluded assembly elections opened pandora's box. From resort politics to cash for vote everything is being seen as a possibility.
In fact state official tourism handles brazenly posted a tweet (though in lighter vein) inviting MLAs of Karnataka to come to their resort. This clearly describes how MLAs are brought openly. While BJP allege Congress is known for that, JD(S) chief Kumara Swamy said that BJP offered his party MLAs 100 crores money.
The allegations and counter allegations wont lead to anywhere and people are debating on possibility of having an ordinance brought to disqualify the MLAs or MPs who switch loyalty soon after being elected. YSRCP too argued on this earlier when its MLAs shifted to TDP. Disqualification might call for by-election which is a burden to state exchequer. So banning them from electoral contests is what some observers feel would clean up the mess!!
