Kris prays Lord Balaji for Yuvi’s speedy recovery

Tirupati, Feb 13: Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) selection committee chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth, offered prayers in Andhra Pradesh on for cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who has been diagnosed with cancer. Dozens of fans along with Srikkanth were seen at the temple of Hindu deity Lord Venkateshwara in Tirupati. Srikkanth, who had arrived at the temple with his family on Sunday said he wished Singh a speedy recovery. “I would like to wish Yuvraj Singh all the very best.

We are at the Kalian Venkateshwara temple. I’ve been hearing from the TV reports and the press reports that he is very cheerful and he is recovering from his disease and I am sure by the grace of Kalian Venkateshwara and by Lord Balaji’s grace Yuvraj will be hundred percent cured and I am sure he will be playing for India shortly and winning more world cups for us,” said Srikkanth.

The 30-year-old southpaw was told last year that he had a golf ball-sized non-malignant tumour but that diagnosis was changed last week to a condition called “mediastinal seminoma”. Singh is currently undergoing chemotherapy in the United States at the Boston Medical Center, the same institute that treated American cyclist Lance Armstrong. Armstrong is arguably international sports’ best-known cancer survivor who went on to win a record seven Tour de France titles. South African Dave Callaghan and Australian Simon O''Donnell also recovered from cancer to resume their cricketing careers.
