BJP wants to contest by-elections

Hyderabad, Feb 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced that it would contest in the ensuing by-elections from all the seven Assembly constituencies.

Party general secretary N. Ramchander Rao told the media that though the Telangana Political JAC has decided that candidates should not be fielded in the constituencies vacated for the cause of Telangana, the party leaders were showing enthusiasm in contesting the elections. He, however, said that the constituencies where the party might put up candidates would be decided later, after discussing the matter with the party High Command.

The party held a meeting of the ‘Padaadikars’ here on Saturday. The recent ‘Telangana Poru Yatra’ by party State president Kishan Reddy, by-elections, and other issues were discussed in the meeting. They also reviewed the political situation in the context of Kishan Reddy’s Yatra and the Kakinada ‘Jai Andhra’ conference among other things. The party has decided that it should take up ‘Palle Bata’ program (visit to villages) to take the party’s message to the masses.
