CBI questions IAS officer Parthasarathy in Jagan case

Hyderabad, Feb 21: Senior IAS officer Parthasarathy was on Tuesday questioned by the CBI in connection with its investigation into the alleged illegal assets of the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Parthasarathy was the commissioner of Information and Public Relations department which releases government advertisements to the media, when Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister.

CBI has reportedly questioned the IAS officer to know if any rules were violated in issuing advertisements to the Sakshi newspaper owned by Jagan. Advertisements are generally released as per the circulation of newspapers as certified by the Audit Bureau of Circulation.

Allegations were made that undue patronage was shown towards Sakshi as the newspaper was owned by the son of the Chief Minister and as that paper was serving as the official organ of the Congress party during those days. The CBI apparently grilled Parthasarathy, to know if any undue favour was done to Sakshi in the release of advertisements.
