Vijayawada, Feb 5: Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar has said that people were alone responsible for politicians becoming corrupt.
Talking to the media here on Sunday, Undavalli said that only 10 per cent of those who want to enter politics come with a view to earn easy money and the rest generally want to serve the people. “If corruption was to be wiped out of the political system, educated persons need to enter active politics”. He said that people should remember that as long as the educated do not enter politics, the same old corrupt leaders would continue to rule and plunder public money. Branding most of the politicians as “thieves” he said that some were bigger thieves and others smaller. He said there were also good men in politics.
Arun Kumar said that it was painful that people were losing faith in IAS officials also, apart from politicians. He faulted IAS officers for meeting the Chief Minister and complaining against the CBI. He said that it was also improper on the part of the officials to state that they had nothing to do with the irregularities. He said that it was sad that they had forgotten the basic principles. He reminded that though laws were enacted by politicians, it was for the bureaucracy to implement them.
