Geeta urges Speaker to disqualify Shobha

Hyderabad, Feb 2: PRP whip Vanga Geeta met Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar here on Thursday and requested him to disqualify the Allagadda PRP MLA Shobha Nagi Reddy, for violation of the party whip during the no-confidence motion voting in the Assembly. Another PRP MLA Pantham Gandhi Mohan accompanied Geeta when she met the Speaker.

Speaking to the media later, Geeta said that she had urged the Speaker to disqualify Shobha Nagi Reddy. She said that they had submitted all the required evidence to justify disqualification of Shobha Nagi Reddy. She has complained that Shobha has not even filed a counter. On the merger of PRP with the Congress inside the Assembly, Geeta said that it was up to the Speaker to decide the matter.

Meanwhile, Shobha Nagi Reddy contended that as PRP was already merged (outside the Assembly), that party ceased to exist and hence Vanga Geeta had no authority to issue a whip to her. She has, however, resigned to the Assembly and was requesting the Speaker to accept her resignation.
