Khammam, Feb 4: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has once again unanimously elected B V Raghavulu as State secretary of the party.
The election was announced at the 23rd State conference of the party on Saturday officially. It is learnt that though two more leaders wanted to contest for the post, the party leadership made it unanimous, as it was felt that in the party’s own interests, Raghavulu should be continued, as he has full grip over the State politics and terrain, in view of the 2014 elections.
Raghavulu was first elected as the State secretary in the 19th conference of the State party in Nalgonda in 1997. He was being re-elected unanimously for the post in every conference after that. In 2009, only one MLA was elected from the CPI(M). It was felt that it was necessary to continue him for the party to fare better in 2014 Assembly elections.
Apart from Raghavulu, 81 party men were elected as State executive members and 15 as members of the State secretariat. Simhadri Siva Reddy, Mallu Swarajyam, P Ananta Rama Sarma, Choudary Tejeswara Rao and Venkataiah were elected special invitees. Tulasi Rao was elected chairman of the State Disciplinary Committee and Hari Kishore and Ratna Mala were elected members.
The election of Raghavulu and others was held in the presence of party national secretary Prakash Karat and Central committee members Brinda Karat and Sitaram Yechuri.
