Kurnool, Feb, 19: Lok Satta president Dr Jaya Prakash Narayana has said that he was ready to even quit his Assembly membership, for fighting on the problems of the farmers.
Dr JP started the second day of his ‘Satyagraha Yatra’ from Mantralayam in this district on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, JP has questioned if the farmers, who toil to grow their crops, had not the right to sell their produce at any place they like.
Announcing that he would undertake more such ‘Yatras’ in the State, JP said that he would start the second leg of the Satyagraha Yatra from Thada village of Adilabad district. He has demanded lifting of the restrictions imposed by the government on the sale of agriculture produce of farmers on other States. He also questioned how the State government was violating the Central order. He said that his party would violate the restrictions and transport food grains to other States and face arrests.
He said they would be transporting grains from Adilabad to Maharashtra, from Srikakulam to Odisha and from Dharmapuri to Tamil Nadu. He said that because of the misrule of various governments for the past 65 years, the farmers had become beggars. He called upon his party workers to maintain restraint if the government got them arrested and cooperate with the police. JP was leading farmers to sell their produce in Karnataka.
