Nellore, Feb, 19: The YSR Congress is counting the Kovuru seat in this district as a sure win seat. The party has already decided to field Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, who had quit the seat and the TDP in protest against Chandrababu Naidu’s style of functioning.
Though the TDP has asked the Speaker Nadendla Manohar to disqualify Prasanna Kumar Reddy, he had accepted his resignation. On the very day his resignation was accepted, Prasanna Kumar Reddy announced that he would be contesting as YSR Congress candidate. As he is a strong
candidate, the YSR Congress also cleared his candidature. Prasanna Kumar Reddy would be seeking re-election from the constituency in the by-election scheduled for March 18. Congress and TDP are yet to announce their candidates.
It may be mentioned here that Congress MP Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy, who also resigned from his Lok Sabha membership, protesting against inclusion of Dr Rajasekhara Reddy’s name in the CBI charge-sheet against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, said the people of Nelloe were feeling that it was their fortune that they would be sending the second MLA of the YSR Congress party from their district. He said that Nallapureddy’s victory was a foregone conclusion and asserted that no force on earth would be able to stop it.
Stating that Kadapa and Pulivendula results would be repeated, Mekapati said that none could stand before the popularity of Jagan and TDP and Congress would lose their deposits in Kovvuru.
