Hyderabad, Feb 22: Former PCC Chief and MLC D Srinivas has alleged that the late Chief Minister YSR had caused plenty of trouble to him.
Talking to the media here after his return from New Delhi where he met party chief Sonia Gandhi and other top leaders, DS said he would never be able to forget the troubles he faced under YSR.
Stating that he never clamored for power or position, DS said he had honestly worked for strengthening the party whenever it was in power. On his debacle twice in elections in Nizamabad, he said there were special situations in the region on both the occasions. Stating that such a situation did not prevail now, DS said the atmosphere was now favourable to the Congress party and said former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir was the right choice for the Kamareddy seat, which would have by-election on March 18. Stating that the Telangana movement was not as intense now as it was earlier, he said there would be surprise results in the by-elections. He said the Congress would have better results this time.
Referring to his Delhi visit, he said he met the party leaders only as a matter of courteousy, and clarified that he had not made any complaint against any one. He said making complaints was not in his nature. He had the seniority and courage to point mistakes of any one right on his face and had no need to make complaints. Stating that he was thankful to Sonia Gandhi, DS said it was because of her that he could become MLC.
On Rahul Gandhi’s campaign in UP, DS said the UP exposure would help Rahul to grow as a national leader and face the tasks that lay ahead for him. Replying a question, DS said the by-elections could not be deemed to be a referendum on the state government’s performance.
