'Adarsha Kutumbam' Lands in Legal Trouble

The latest release featuring Victory Venkatesh and filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas has landed in an unexpected controversy, with allegations of copyright infringement emerging just as the film begins its theatrical run. Titled Adarsha Kutumbam, the much-anticipated collaboration entered cinemas amid considerable expectations, largely driven by the popularity of its lead actor and director. However, the film's journey at the box office has been met with a mixed response, and the emerging legal dispute has now added another challenge for its production team.

Despite generating considerable pre-release buzz, the film's opening numbers have reportedly fallen short of what trade circles expected from a combination as popular as Venkatesh and Trivikram. The movie collected over Rs 16 crore in worldwide gross on its first day, but the performance has triggered discussions about whether the film is living up to the commercial expectations surrounding it. The makers are reportedly hoping for improved collections over the weekend, when positive audience word of mouth could potentially help the film gain momentum. However, the copyright allegation has shifted some of the attention away from its theatrical performance.

The controversy has been raised by producer Manchi Venkat, who is currently backing a horror-comedy thriller titled Parnashala under the SLT Films banner. He has reportedly objected to the use of a folk song in Adarsha Kutumbam, alleging that the track originally featured in his production and was incorporated into the Venkatesh-starrer without obtaining the necessary permission. The producer has expressed serious reservations over the alleged unauthorised usage, bringing the question of ownership and creative rights into focus. The dispute could now become an additional concern for the team behind the big-ticket entertainer.

The development has placed Adarsha Kutumbam in an uncomfortable position at a time when the film needs to sustain audience interest and improve its theatrical performance. Copyright-related disagreements over songs and other creative material can become complicated, particularly when questions arise over permissions, ownership and licensing agreements. Whether the allegations will lead to formal legal proceedings or an attempt at an out-of-court resolution remains to be seen. For now, the controversy has created an unexpected hurdle for the Venkatesh-Trivikram combination, with the film's box-office journey unfolding alongside the growing copyright dispute.
