Balaiah airlifted to Hyd
Popular Tollywood actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, who sustained an injury during a film shoot in Rajahmundry, was airlifted to Hyderabad on Wednesday and admitted to AIG Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
According to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG), Balakrishna injured his left knee during the shoot. He was given initial treatment at a local hospital before being airlifted to AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, for specialised evaluation and further management.
A medical bulletin from AIG Hospital said preliminary evaluation showed a localised collection of blood and inflammation in the tissues around the left knee, indicating a possible muscle tear. He is undergoing extensive clinical and diagnostic investigations under the supervision of orthopaedic surgeons.
Given Balakrishna’s medical history, a multidisciplinary team comprising specialists from relevant departments is also reviewing his overall health and fitness to determine the safest course of treatment.
“Balakrishna’s overall condition is stable, and he remains under close medical observation. The definitive treatment plan will be finalised after completion of the ongoing evaluation,” the bulletin stated.
Balakrishna suffered the injury during a shoot for his yet‑to‑be‑titled movie. Director Gopichand Malineni posted on social media on Tuesday that the injury was not serious and said Balakrishna is expected to recover soon after a minor surgery.
Balakrishna is a leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He is the brother‑in‑law of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu and father‑in‑law of state minister Nara Lokesh.
Chandrababu Naidu posted on X that he spoke with Balakrishna after learning about the injury. “Wishing him a very speedy recovery. Knowing his unstoppable spirit, he will be back in action in no time! Get well soon!” he wrote.
Lokesh also spoke to Balakrishna and inquired about the accident. “Wishing a speedy and full recovery to my dear Bala Mavayya following his minor injury on the sets of NBK111. Praying for his quick bounce‑back to action and good health!” he posted.
