Businessman’s Honeytrap Nightmare

Businessman’s Honeytrap Nightmare

A 31-year-old businessman from Jayanagar, Bengaluru, found himself embroiled in a harrowing honeytrap scheme after a seemingly innocent Instagram connection turned into a nightmare.

The businessman alleged that what started as a professional interaction quickly escalated into a close relationship, only to take a sinister turn when the woman began blackmailing him. According to his police complaint, the woman demanded a staggering Rs 1.5 crore, threatening to expose their private conversations and intimate moments to his wife and family.

Despite paying her Rs 10 lakh and surrendering valuables, including gold and an iPhone, the woman continued to extort more money and eventually shared compromising videos with his wife. The police have registered a case under BNS Section 308 for extortion and IT Act Sections 66E and 67 for privacy violation and transmitting obscene material. They are currently working to apprehend the accused and retrieve data from her devices.
