Jail Treatment To Jagan Sparks Political Row!

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of deliberately humiliating him during his visit to Kurnool district jail. The YSRCP chief had gone to meet party MLA Virupakshi and claimed that, unlike visitors who are normally taken inside and photographed, he was allegedly made to stand outside the jail grills while his photograph was taken. Calling the incident disrespectful, Jagan said he was particularly disturbed by the treatment because he had previously served as the state’s Chief Minister.

Jagan said he questioned jail officials about the unusual procedure and was told that the instructions had come from higher authorities. He contrasted the episode with the system introduced during his tenure, claiming that police stations under his government were designed to be more accessible and respectful toward ordinary citizens. According to him, the manner in which he was treated reflected what he described as an attempt to deliberately insult him.

After walking out of the jail, Jagan strongly criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and warned against establishing what he called a dangerous political precedent. He said governments do not remain in power forever and cautioned that actions taken today could eventually have consequences for those responsible. Jagan also pointed out that two years of the current government had already passed, with three more years still remaining, signalling that the political confrontation between the ruling coalition and the YSRCP is likely to continue.
