‘Jailer 2’ Turns Into a Box Office Monster
Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is setting the box office ablaze, with the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action thriller recording a phenomenal opening. The film has reportedly grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide within its first three days, putting it on course to enter the ₹400-crore club in the coming days. The film’s impressive performance has also raised expectations that it could challenge the collection records of Rajinikanth’s earlier blockbuster 2.0, potentially marking another major milestone for Tamil cinema.
The film witnessed a significant jump in domestic collections on Saturday, October 17. According to Sacnilk estimates, Jailer 2 earned a net collection of ₹47.80 crore in India that day, registering a 28.8 per cent increase over Friday’s ₹37.10 crore. With this surge, its cumulative domestic net collection climbed to ₹144.60 crore, while the Indian gross stood at ₹169.65 crore. The film’s strong performance reflects its continuing appeal among audiences, with theatres witnessing sustained interest during the opening weekend.
Overseas markets have contributed substantially to the film’s overall earnings, adding an estimated ₹147.50 crore in gross collections. This took Jailer 2’s worldwide gross to approximately ₹317.15 crore in just three days. Trade observers are now closely tracking Sunday’s numbers, with early projections suggesting that the film could cross ₹425 crore worldwide by the end of its four-day opening weekend if the momentum continues. Its performance across domestic and international markets could also position it among the biggest Tamil film openers, although the final figures will determine the extent of its box office achievements.
