Konda Murali Backs Daughter’s Right to Speak

Congress leader Konda Murali has distanced himself and his family from the recent remarks made by his daughter, Konda Sushmitha, regarding alleged corruption involving Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Speaking to the media after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday, Murali said Sushmitha’s comments were entirely personal and that neither he nor the family should be held responsible for her statements. He stressed that she is an adult and has the right to express her own views and opinions.

Murali said there was no question of questioning Sushmitha over what she had said, making it clear that her political views and statements were her own. He also stated that he had already conveyed his position to the party’s disciplinary committee. Responding to reports that Minister Konda Surekha was unavailable, Murali dismissed them as untrue. He maintained that the family continues to have complete faith in the Gandhi family and reiterated that he would remain with the Congress party.

Murali further clarified that he did not discuss Sushmitha’s comments with Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka during their meeting. According to him, the meeting was related to a bill and had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding his daughter’s remarks. His comments underline his attempt to keep his daughter’s statements separate from his own political position while reaffirming his loyalty to the Congress party.
