KTR Throws Open Challenge to Revanth

Telangana’s political temperature is rising again, with BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) challenging Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to order an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the assets of both their families, going back to their grandfathers’ generations. Reacting to allegations made by Revanth Reddy at a public meeting in Sircilla, KTR said he was ready to face an investigation and insisted that his family’s assets and business dealings should be examined alongside those of the Chief Minister’s family.

Defending his wealth, KTR said his father, former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had spent decades in public life, while he himself had worked in the United States for six years before starting a hotel business in Hyderabad in 2006. He claimed that his assets and business interests had been disclosed in his 2009 election affidavit. Turning the spotlight on Revanth Reddy’s family, KTR raised questions about government tenders, alleged land dealings and business opportunities involving the Chief Minister’s relatives and associates. These allegations remain claims made by KTR and would require independent verification.

KTR also questioned the Congress government’s progress on corruption investigations involving the Kaleshwaram project, power purchase agreements and the Formula-E event. He accused the ruling party of diverting public attention from its election promises and alleged that farmers, youth, handloom workers and other sections were facing difficulties. Now comes the political question: will Revanth Reddy accept KTR’s challenge, or will the war of words continue without a comprehensive judicial inquiry? For Telangana voters, the key issue is whether the competing allegations lead to transparent investigations and verifiable answers.
