Lakshmi Parvathi on Monday slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu for what she called trying to create a rift in the family of YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Lakshmi Parvathi, the second wife of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N. T. Rama Rao (NTR), said Chandrababu Naidu created a wedge in the family of NTR and alleged that he was playing the same cards with the Jagan Mohan Reddy family.

Speaking to the media here, she alleged that said Chandrababu made a backdoor entry into politics and usurped the TDP and power from NTR. She remarked that Chandrababu never won an election on his own.

Lakshmi Parvathi criticised Chandrababu for trying to elevate his son Nara Lokesh. “Lokesh is another unworthy candidate who has no knowledge of any subject but has undeservedly high aspirations,” she said.

The former MLA said that while Jagan Mohan Reddy championed the cause of women's empowerment and demonstrated it in its finest form by giving 50 per cent reservations to them, Chandrababu always betrayed women, be it Self Help Groups, pensions, free bus travel, or other schemes.

She alleged that Amaravati is a project for Chandrababu to mint money and claimed that MAVIGUN (Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur), suggested by Jagan Mohan Reddy, is the most practical and viable one.

Meanwhile, YSRCP spokesperson and former MLA Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy strongly criticised Lokesh, saying his newfound respect for Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother YS Vijayamma, exposes his political opportunism.

He stated that Lokesh’s sudden birthday wishes to Y.S. Vijayamma were driven by political motives rather than genuine respect.

The YSRCP spokesperson said that those who are now claiming to respect Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother and admire his sister are simultaneously targeting his wife. He called it a clear reflection of unethical politics.

He pointed out that Vijayamma’s birthday is a moment of joy for YSRCP cadre and the people who respect the YSR family, but Lokesh’s sudden display of affection raises serious doubts, especially when he had never shown such regard in the past.

Siva Prasad Reddy stated that this “newfound respect” is part of a calculated attempt to exploit internal family differences for political gain and to distance YS Jagan from his family.

Recalling past incidents, he said YSRCP leaders cannot forget how Vijayamma was subjected to humiliating vehicle checks during the previous TDP regime, questioning the sincerity behind current greetings from the same quarters.

He further criticised the selective nature of such gestures, asking whether similar wishes were ever extended to the mothers of other leaders, including national figures and allies, and termed this as clear hypocrisy.
