Masked Men Pull Off 2 Cr Ornaments in Minutes
In a brazen early morning heist, seven masked individuals infiltrated a CaratLane jewellery store in Medipally, Telangana, and made off with a staggering 450 ornaments valued at over ₹2 crore within a mere ten minutes. The audacious burglary unfolded around 4 AM, when the gang meticulously observed their surroundings before springing into action. With their faces obscured and gloves on, they executed their plan with alarming efficiency, targeting the display items exclusively as they deftly circumvented security measures.
According to police reports, the gang's modus operandi was calculated and precise. They first loitered near the showroom, with several members positioned strategically outside to act as lookouts. Once the atmosphere was deemed favorable, they pried open the shutter and breached the glass door lock using a rod. One member entered the store while the others maintained surveillance. It was during this swift operation that they disconnected the alarm system and obscured the view of their activities with a long piece of cloth, making their task significantly easier.
The stolen haul, weighing about 1.4 kilograms, comprised a mix of gold and diamond jewellery in various karat classifications, including 9K, 14K, and 18K pieces. At the time of the incident, the showroom boasted nearly 2,000 ornaments, but the theft has left a significant dent in its inventory. Police initially estimated the value of the stolen goods at ₹45 lakh, although experts believe the true worth to be substantially higher, closer to ₹2 crore. Such a discrepancy highlights the potential for organized crime in the area, further compounding the concerns of local business owners.
Investigators are now poring over CCTV footage from surrounding locations to trace the suspects' escape route, as witnesses reported the group scattered in different directions after the theft. Authorities suspect the gang may have had a getaway vehicle waiting nearby, indicating premeditation. Given the intricacy of the operation, police are exploring connections to similar criminal activities, with speculation that the perpetrators may be linked to organized crime syndicates based in Rajasthan. The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement determined to apprehend those responsible for this daring robbery.
