Siya's lawyer sends Rs 10 crore defamation notice to her brother

Siya's lawyer sends Rs 10 crore defamation notice to her brother

A fresh controversy has added another dramatic layer to the high-profile murder case of Ketan Agarwal. Advocate Ashutosh Srivastava, who says he represents the prime accused Siya Goyal, has sent a legal notice seeking Rs 10 crore in damages from Siya's brother, Sahil Goyal, alleging defamation and reputational harm.

The legal notice claims that Siya had formally appointed Srivastava as her counsel through a valid vakalatnama, which has already been filed before the court. According to the notice, Sahil's public statements questioning the lawyer's authority to represent Siya were "false, misleading, and defamatory," causing professional embarrassment, online trolling, threats, and damage to Srivastava's reputation. The lawyer has demanded an immediate retraction, public apology, and assurance against repeating such allegations.

The dispute erupted after Sahil Goyal alleged that Srivastava had not been appointed by the family and suggested that Siya's signature may have been obtained "by deceit." He further claimed that another lawyer had been officially engaged to represent the family. The legal battle between Siya's family and the lawyer claiming to defend her adds yet another sensational twist to an already complex and closely watched murder investigation.
