Surekha Challenges RR as Cong Tussle Deepens!

Congress leader Konda Surekha has stepped up her criticism of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, making it clear that she is unwilling to back down amid speculation that the party high command may take disciplinary action against her. After meeting Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, Surekha reportedly argued that any action against her should be preceded by action against Revanth as well. Her remarks have added another layer to the growing tensions within the Telangana Congress.

Surekha questioned why she should be held responsible for comments made by her daughter and pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s repeated emphasis on women being independent and able to speak for themselves. She also questioned whether disciplinary standards were being applied equally across the party, asking why remarks targeting Revanth by leaders from other sections should be treated differently. Surekha further objected to Revanth’s reported claim that he would remain Chief Minister for ten years and questioned his authority to announce a candidate for the Parkal constituency without wider party consideration.

The senior Congress leader said she had already communicated her concerns to Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and K. C. Venugopal and maintained that she had explained the circumstances behind her daughter’s remarks. She also questioned whether some of the Chief Minister’s own actions and statements should come under the party’s disciplinary framework. With Surekha insisting that she has already placed her case before the high command and is prepared to accept whatever decision is taken, attention is now firmly on the Congress leadership. Her latest comments suggest that the dispute with Revanth is far from settled and could become a bigger internal battle for the party.
