TFCC Takes Legal Action Against iBomma
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has taken decisive action by lodging a fresh complaint against piracy websites, iBomma and Bappam TV, for their unauthorized streaming of newly released Telugu films and OTT content. The complaint, filed by Manindra Babu Yarra, project head of the anti-video piracy cell, alleges that the websites were illegally offering free access to copyrighted films in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Bengali. Moreover, the operators are accused of promoting illegal online betting platforms through embedded advertisements.
The sophisticated piracy ecosystem utilized Google’s Blogspot platform as a front-end portal, with custom streaming players embedded for seamless playback of pirated movies. Additionally, the websites were found to have anti-tracking and anti-debugging mechanisms to evade law enforcement scrutiny. The complaint also highlighted the aggressive promotion of banned betting applications, such as 1xBet and 4rabet, alongside the streaming of movies.
The Hyderabad cybercrime police have registered a criminal case against the unidentified operators of the websites under multiple provisions of the Information Technology Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Telangana Gaming Act, and the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025.
