Usha Vance Says She Is J. D.’s Trusted Advisor

Usha Vance has revealed that she considers herself a trusted advisor to her husband, J. D. Vance, especially on matters that are personally important to him.

In an interview with NBC News, Usha, the first Indian-American Second Lady of the United States, said that while she and her husband do not always agree on every issue, their differences often lead to productive and open-minded discussions.

She explained that understanding her husband’s priorities is essential for her support. “I want to be supportive of him, and if I don’t really know what’s going on, then I can’t do that,” she said.

Usha clarified that she does not serve in any official or professional role within the vice president’s office. Instead, she offers personal guidance as someone who deeply cares for her husband and wants him to succeed.

Although Vice President Vance has a full team of policy advisors, Usha said he often turns to her when dealing with issues that are intensely personal or especially meaningful to him.

On the possibility of a 2028 presidential run, Usha said it is not currently a major topic in their household. She noted that her husband is presently focused on the upcoming mid-term elections and that she expects to have a clearer idea about any presidential plans sometime in 2027.
