Vizag woman dead in Hyd hotel, bf flees

A 23-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Her boyfriend, who was staying with her in the hotel room in Madhapur, fled from the hospital after doctors pronounced her dead, officials said.

Police suspect that her boyfriend was behind her death. Police, who also found bloodstains in the hotel room, launched a hunt for him.

The deceased has been identified as Sharon Nikhita Topno, a native of Visakhapatnam. According to police, she had come to Hyderabad with her boyfriend, Srinivasa Ravi Teja. They had checked into a hotel at Road Number 5 in Siddiq Nagar, Madhapur, around 2 p.m. on Monday.

Madhapur Police received information early Tuesday morning from a private hospital about the young woman’s death. She was brought to the hospital by her boyfriend and the hotel staff for emergency medical treatment. Doctors examined her and declared her dead.

Police reached the hospital and examined the body. They found severe injuries and swelling on her face and head. After doctors declared the woman dead, Ravi Teja left the hospital without informing the staff, raising suspicions about the circumstances of her death.

Police examined the hotel room and found blood stains on the walls and on the bedsheet. The clues team collected forensic evidence from the scene.

The woman’s body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem examination. Madhapur Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. A police officer said they were examining CCTV footage and other evidence.

The investigators were also questioning hotel staff to ascertain what happened before the woman was taken to the hospital. The investigating officials contacted Visakhapatnam Police to inform the family of the deceased and also to trace her boyfriend.

The postmortem examination report is expected to help the investigators conclude the cause of death.
