Y S Sunitha’s Kadapa Game Plan?

Political activity in Andhra Pradesh is intensifying as the alliance parties prepare for the upcoming local-body elections, with Kadapa emerging as one of the key districts drawing attention. The contest between the ruling alliance and the YSR Congress Party is expected to be closely watched, while seat-sharing discussions among the alliance partners are also gaining momentum. Against this backdrop, fresh political speculation has surfaced over Y.S. Sunitha’s reported involvement in the alliance’s calculations in her home district.

With the possibility of the local election schedule being announced later this month, alliance leaders are reportedly working on strategies to consolidate their position across municipalities, corporations and other local bodies in Kadapa. Leaders of the three alliance partners are understood to be discussing possible seat adjustments and candidates. Amid these preparations, Sunitha, daughter of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, reportedly met a key alliance leader along with her husband Rajasekhar Reddy. The meeting is said to have included discussions concerning developments in Kadapa and the upcoming local elections.

According to political circles in the district, Sunitha is believed to have recommended the candidature of Pradeep Reddy, the son of her husband’s brother Shivaprakash Reddy, for the Kadapa Zilla Parishad chairman post. The reported recommendation has triggered discussion among alliance leaders, as several aspirants from the three constituent parties are said to be interested in the position. While it remains unclear whether the proposal will translate into an official candidature, Sunitha’s reported intervention has added a new dimension to the district’s political equations. Her increasing engagement with Kadapa affairs is also being viewed by local political observers as a possible indication of a more active political role in the future, though no formal announcement regarding her electoral plans has been made.
