Andhra Former Deputy CM Alla Nani dies

Former Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani) died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 57.

Popularly known as Alla Nani, he breathed his last at his residence in Visakhapatnam.

Alla Nani began his political career with the Congress party. He was elected to the Assembly of united Andhra Pradesh from Eluru in 2004 and 2009 on the Congress party ticket.

He later joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and contested unsuccessfully on the party ticket in the 2014 Assembly elections.

Alla Nani was elected to the Legislative Council under the MLA quota in 2017. He was elected to the Assembly from Eluru in 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he served as the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Medical and Health in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government.

Last year, Alla Nani quit YSRCP to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has condoled the demise of Alla Nani. He stated that he was deeply shocked to learn about the death of the former Deputy Chief Minister due to a heart attack at a young age. He conveyed his profound condolences to his family.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said in his condolence message that the sudden demise of former Deputy Chief Minister and senior political leader from Eluru, Alla Nani, caused him profound sorrow.

He noted that Alla Nani served the people as Eluru MLA for three terms and once as MLC. He prayed for his soul to attain peace and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family members.

Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock and grief over the sudden demise of Alla Nani.

Jagan said Alla Nani’s untimely death was deeply painful and recalled his long public career, including being elected three times as MLA from Eluru and serving the people for many years.

He remembered Alla Nani’s key role in the YSRCP government as Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, and said he discharged his responsibilities in the public health sector with dedication.

Jagan said Alla Nani’s passing was an irreparable loss to his family and admirers. He prayed for peace to the departed soul and for strength to the bereaved family.

He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Alla Nani’s family members, relatives and supporters.
