BRS Demands Apology from Telangana CM
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday demanded an apology from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for allegedly using abusive and unparliamentary language against Opposition leaders in the State Legislative Assembly.
The demand follows remarks made by the Chief Minister during a debate on Krishna river waters, in which he allegedly targeted BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao and BRS deputy leader T. Harish Rao.
Reacting sharply, Harish Rao accused the Chief Minister of unleashing “repulsive and indecent language” inside the House, calling it unacceptable in what he described as the “temple of democracy.” He specifically objected to the use of a vulgar term, stating that such rhetoric would not be tolerated by a civilised society.
The former minister also criticised the Speaker for failing to restrain the Chief Minister and alleged that threats and violent language reflected political desperation. BRS MLAs were absent from the House, having boycotted the winter session alleging biased conduct by the Speaker.
Harish Rao further rejected Revanth Reddy’s claims on irrigation projects, including Palamuru–Rangareddy and the Rayalaseema Lift Project, asserting that Congress was misrepresenting facts and claiming credit for legal actions initiated during the BRS regime.
“The Assembly proceedings have once again shown the Chief Minister’s lack of basic understanding of irrigation issues,” Harish Rao said, reiterating the demand for a public apology.
