BRS MLA Booked for Alleged Encroachment of Durgam Cheruvu

Cyberabad Police have registered a case against Kotha Prabhakar Reddy for allegedly encroaching Durgam Cheruvu in Madhapur, one of Hyderabad’s prime IT hubs.

Acting on a complaint by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Madhapur Police booked the case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. Authorities allege that around five acres of lake land were illegally filled with soil and stones and used for private transport parking, generating significant illegal revenue.

HYDRAA recently cleared the encroached area near Inorbit Mall as part of a major anti-encroachment drive. Officials said Durgam Cheruvu has shrunk from 160 acres to 116 acres over the years due to systematic encroachments, with investigations and restoration efforts now underway.
