Indian Nationals Busted with 300 Pounds of Drugs in US

Two Indian nationals were arrested in the United States after authorities seized over 300 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a semi-truck in the state of Indiana, according to the US Department of Homeland Security. The accused, Gurpreet Singh (25) and Jasveer Singh (30), were taken into custody in Putnam County after the massive drug haul was discovered during a routine truck inspection. Officials said the cocaine was concealed in the sleeper berth of the vehicle and was large enough to cause over 113,000 deaths.
The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged detainers to ensure both men remain in custody and are handed over to federal immigration authorities after local proceedings. DHS said both held California-issued commercial driving licences, raising serious questions over vetting and enforcement. The case has reignited debate over sanctuary policies and the use of commercial trucking routes by international drug trafficking networks, as investigations continue to determine the intended destination and possible links to larger cartels.
