Kavitha Hints at Bigger Game

Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) leader, K. Kavitha, on Wednesday accused the Congress government in Telangana of a conspiracy to thwart the implementation of the fee reimbursement scheme.

She said the government issued G.O. Ms No. 7, stating that Rs. 11,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues will be deposited directly into the accounts of students' parents instead of being paid to colleges.

“This vile government has introduced new orders to trample upon the college managements who have been organised and fighting for years to secure the pending fee reimbursement dues. We will continue the struggle until G.O. Ms No. 7 brought by the government is scrapped and the reimbursement dues are paid to the college managements,” she said.

Addressing a roundtable on ‘Quality education and fee regulation’, she slammed a steep hike in school fee.

Kavitha demanded that the Congress Party, which claims to be a people's government, issue a G.O. on fee regulation in the month of May itself, as per the assurance it has given.

Private educational institutions, which are arbitrarily increasing fees and imposing an unbearable burden on the parents of students, must be restrained, she said.

“A 120 per cent fee hike in a single year—especially by an institution like the Hyderabad Public School, which operates on government land, is both obnoxious and unacceptable. The fact that one individual has held a post for 14 years, allegedly training newcomers in corrupt practices, highlights a severe lack of oversight. Furthermore, there is zero accountability regarding donations provided by alumni and esteemed personalities like Satya Nadella,” Kavitha posted on ‘X’.

“Combined with reports of relatives of CM Revanth Reddy and others attempting to illegally seize 30 acres of the campus, these alarming aspects expose a deep-seated crisis within HPS," she alleged.

"A thorough review of the functioning of the Hyderabad Public School is necessary, and we demand immediate action,” she added.
