Man Kills 3 kids, Dies by Suicide in Nandyal

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 35-year-old man allegedly killed his three young children by poisoning them before dying by suicide in Nandyal district. The incident occurred in Thudumaladinne village of Uyyalawada Mandal, sending shockwaves across the region.

Police said Vemulapati Surendra allegedly served pesticide-laced cold drinks to his children — Kaavyashri (7), Dhyaneshwari (4), and Surya Gagan (2) — and later hanged himself. All four bodies were found inside the house on Thursday. Samples of food and beverages have been sent for forensic examination as part of the investigation.

Surendra’s wife had died by suicide in August 2025, and locals said he had been struggling with grief, financial stress, and the responsibility of raising the children alone. Police suspect personal distress and possible alcohol influence behind the tragic act. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
