Revanth Sacrificed to Please Naidu!

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of deliberately stalling the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project to appease his “former political boss,” Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing a party meeting at Telangana Bhavan, KTR alleged that the Congress government halted the nearly completed project not due to technical or financial hurdles, but out of political insecurity. He claimed that close to 90 per cent of the project was finished during the BRS regime under K. Chandrasekhar Rao, with only canal works pending. “Instead of completing it and delivering water to farmers, the Congress cancelled tenders and froze construction,” he said.

KTR argued that the delay has pushed lakhs of farmers in Palamuru into distress at a time of severe water scarcity and crop loss. He accused Revanth Reddy of prioritising political vendetta over public welfare, alleging that the Chief Minister was unwilling to let KCR get credit for bringing Krishna water to the region. Calling the move a betrayal of farmers’ interests, KTR said the Congress government’s approach reflected both administrative incompetence and misplaced political loyalties—turning a lifeline project into a casualty of power politics.
