Telangana's Economic Surge: Irrigation and Industry Lead the Way

The Centre's Economic Survey 2025-26 reveals Telangana's significant growth, fueled by a vast irrigation expansion and robust industrial development. Cultivated area soared from 1.31 crore acres in 2014 to 2.20 crore acres by FY 2023, thanks to initiatives like the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project and Mission Kakatiya.

Despite concerns over the structural integrity of key irrigation infrastructure, the survey highlights Telangana's declining inflation rate, now at 2.6%, and its manufacturing prowess, contributing 5% of India's manufacturing jobs. The state also ranks among the top four in service contributions, driven largely by IT and finance sectors, while governance initiatives such as WE-Hub support women entrepreneurs and amplify growth.
