Tollywood Unite to Crack Down on Film Piracy

In a major boost to the fight against digital piracy, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) and the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) on Monday signed an MoU to jointly combat online film piracy plaguing the Telugu film industry. The agreement, signed by TGCSB Director Shikha Goel and TFCC President Daggubati Suresh Babu, aims to create a technology-driven, real-time response system to tackle piracy across websites, social media, OTT platforms, apps, IPTV streams, and camcording networks.

The MoU enables real-time intelligence sharing, rapid takedowns, and swift legal action, with TGCSB acting as the nodal agency. Anti-piracy agents from TFCC will work closely with cybercrime officials at the Integrated Command & Control Centre to ensure quick escalation during film releases. Telangana DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy said piracy has become an organised cybercrime ecosystem, while industry leaders hailed the partnership as a game-changer—especially after recent crackdowns on platforms like Tamil-blasters and iBomma—reinforcing Telangana’s position as a frontrunner in protecting creative and intellectual property rights.
