Water Wars for Survival?
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday launched a sharp attack on former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, alleging that he is deliberately stoking water disputes between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to politically revive the sinking Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Revanth Reddy accused KCR of skipping the Assembly out of fear of facing questions on alleged irregularities in irrigation projects and of raking up the name of Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu to inflame regional sentiments. “With BRS facing an existential crisis after repeated electoral defeats, KCR is trying to manufacture water disputes to stay relevant,” he alleged.
The Chief Minister claimed KCR weakened Telangana’s case on Krishna river waters by accepting just 299 TMC, signing documents that favoured Andhra Pradesh. He further alleged massive financial irregularities in the Palamuru–Rangareddy project, accusing the former CM of spending ₹27,000 crore without a DPR or environmental clearances. Challenging KCR to face a debate in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said the Congress government would expose what he called “a decade of deception in the name of irrigation.”
