Sobhita Takes on the Action Challenge for ‘Vettuvam’

Sobhita Dhulipala is stepping far outside her comfort zone for Vettuvam! The actress has revealed how intense physical training and traditional martial arts became a major part of her preparation for Pa. Ranjith’s upcoming action drama.

Speaking about the demanding process, Sobhita said the preparation “blasted open” her mind and body to new levels of awareness. Although stunt doubles were used during rehearsals for some sequences, she revealed that the cast made it a point to perform the stunts themselves. “We took it as a challenge,” Sobhita said, adding that the experience was both physically demanding and inspiring. Her preparation included Adi Murai, Mallakhamba and Surul, a traditional weapon involving curling blades. She also credited her co-stars for supporting her throughout what she described as a wild and energetic journey.

Vettuvam takes audiences into the world of a rural gangster who is seen as a modern-day Robin Hood by his people. However, after surrendering to the police to escape his enemies, he discovers that the world inside prison may be even more dangerous. The film promises an intense combination of action, emotion and raw rural drama. Sobhita, who made her screen debut with Raman Raghav 2.0, has since built a diverse filmography spanning Made in Heaven, Goodachari, Major, Moothon, Kurup, Ponniyin Selvan, The Night Manager and Hollywood action thriller Monkey Man.
